The Property
The land for the AmaLinda Educational Center and Eco-Ashram is a precious 60-acre farm previously used for agriculture and horse pasture. It lies on a south facing slope along the Barucito river, on top of the beautiful Santo Cristo waterfall. The land is held in a community land trust and thus is stewarded by a group of people who share our same values.

Our Location
The farm is located in the southern Pacific zone in the village of San Salvador de Baru. We are about halfway between San Isidro de el General and the surf town of Dominical. We are only two miles from the Pacific ocean (as the crow flies), but due to the mountainous topography, a trip to the ocean is either a 45 minute drive or a 2 - 3 hour walk. Traveling from the main international airport in San Jose will take about four hours. There is a regional airport about an 1 1/2 hours away in Palmar Sur, serviced by Sansa and NatureAir.
For all programs, we provide:
Shared accomodations |
Mattress, bottom sheet and mosquito net |
Vegetarian cuisine with an emphasis on local and farm fresh foods |
Crystal clean spring water |
We choose to live a life of simplicity. Our casitas are rustic with gorgeous views of nature. Living close with the land, we use natural temperature showers and composting outhouse facilities. We have no electricity on the farm and use generators when needed. Internet is available for emergencies.
